New Design with a Metal frame

According to the leaked images, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature:

  • A large “Ultra” branding at the top of the rear panel
  • A flat metal frame, unlike the curved sides of previous models
  • A new green colour finish covered with small white dots, giving it a fresh and textured visual style

This marks a notable shift toward bolder styling compared to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

Triple-camera with Leica APO

Xiaomi is putting heavy emphasis on camera optics this year. The 17 Ultra reportedly packs a triple-camera setup: 50MP + 50MP + 200MP with Leica APO certification.

Lu Weibing revealed several significant upgrades:

  • The telephoto lens is Leica APO-certified, known for high-end optical precision
  • The module costs nearly twice as much as the telephoto unit used on the 15 Ultra
  • Designed to minimise purple/green fringing (chromatic aberration)
  • Improved clarity at long-range zoom with better optical accuracy

While Xiaomi is keeping the 1-inch main sensor, the 17 Ultra is expected to introduce third-generation LOFIC technology, which should improve dynamic range and low-light performance.

What to expect

With upgraded Leica optics, premium materials, and aggressive styling, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra looks ready to compete at the top of the flagship market again. More leaks are likely in the coming weeks as Xiaomi nears its launch window.
