World’s first AI-intelligent smartphone, Nubia NaviX Ultra, launched officially
Nubia has officially launched its latest AI-focused smartphone, the NaviX Ultra, in China. The new model arrives as the successor to the company’s first AI phone, the M153, and comes just weeks after Nubia’s president teased it as the company’s “world’s first AI agent phone.” Nubia calls it the second-generation “beanbag” phone, a nickname that originated with the M153.
Nubia NaviX Ultra Specifications
The Nubia NaviX Ultra features a 6.78-inch 144Hz LTPO 2.0 display with DCI-P3 color range, up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The screen also supports DC dimming and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It measures 162.11×75.69×7.62mm and weighs 208g.
The AI monster is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with Adreno 840 GPU. It features Nubia’s Galaxy Cooling System with a 7,100 mm² vapor chamber to ensure smooth performance during heavy use. This device runs on Android 16 with Nebula AIOS 2.
On the rear panel, it comes with a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP main (1/1.4” sensor, f/1.6 lens with OIS), a 64MP 3x periscope (OIS, DCG HDR) and a 50MP ultra-wide (115°, f/2.0 lens with AF). On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera.
A 7,100mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support powers this NaviX Ultra. For network and connectivity, it comes with 5G NSA /SA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11 be (2.4GHz + 5GHz + 6GHz), Bluetooth 6.0, GPS (L1/L5)+ GLONASS, USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1, and NFC.
ByteDance’s Doubao Mobile Assistant AI Features
The NaviX Ultra comes with ByteDance’s Doubao Mobile Assistant for its AI features to handle multi-step tasks across different apps through voice commands, allowing users to complete tasks without manually opening and navigating through individual applications.
The NaviX Ultra uses the consumer version of Doubao Mobile Assistant, following the technical preview introduced by ByteDance last December. Nubia says the latest version brings improvements to interaction, personal memory, task execution, and privacy controls.
The NaviX Ultra features a dedicated orange-accented AI button that also works as a fingerprint sensor. It supports voice wake-up and more than ten dialects, including Cantonese and Minnan, while Seed’s latest full-duplex voice model lets users interrupt the assistant mid-response. Nubia claims a 48% higher wake-up rate in noisy environments and 21% better sentence recognition.
The AI assistant can understand on-screen content and images, allowing users to ask about something on the display, identify objects through the camera, or analyze what the camera shows during video calls. It can also recognize products and open shopping pages, handle calls with custom response scripts, and prioritize important notifications.
The assistant supports third-party services such as Cao Cao Mobility and Lark, allowing users to book rides or check schedules without leaving the AI interface. It can also run some tasks in the background and handle multiple requests in a queue.
For productivity, the assistant can record meetings and use Lark Notes to transcribe and summarize them. Users can later search the recordings using natural-language queries.
Privacy Features
Nubia also says the NaviX Ultra is the first device to complete registration for its intelligent agent large model with Chinese regulators, while the phone includes lock-screen permission controls and international security certifications.
Nubia NaviX Ultra Price
The NaviX Ultra comes in three storage options: 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. The base model costs 5,999 yuan (around $840). The 16GB/512GB version is priced at 6,499 yuan (around $910), while the top-end model costs 7,499 yuan (around $1,050).
