Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 5 Max launch: a massive 9,000mAh battery, Dimensity 9500s SoC, and stylish design

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, focusing on premium flagship performance, a massive battery, a top-end processor, and a stylish design. This device is already available for sale in China.

Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 5 Max Price in China

The Turbo 5 Max is available in four storage configurations. The base variant 12GB + 256GB will cost 2499 Yuan (~Rs 29,150 | ~$315). The 16GB+256GB trim will cost 2,499 CNY (~Rs 33,050 | ~$360). While the top storage trims, 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB, are priced at 2,499 CNY (~Rs 33,050 | ~$360) and 2,799 CNY (~Rs 37,050 | ~$405), respectively.

Xiaomi has not yet confirmed international availability, but the Turbo series could launch in global markets such as India under the POCO branding.

120Hz OLED display

Design, Display, and Durability

The Turbo 5 Max features a 6.83-inch 120Hz OLED flat display with 1.5K (2772 × 1280 pixels) resolution. This delivers a smooth and immersive viewing experience. The display offers up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, 3840Hz PWM dimming, 12-bit colours, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. As a result, users get excellent visibility even in bright outdoor conditions and reduced flicker and eye strain.

Redmi Turbo 5 Max design

The phone features a CNC metal frame with a fiberglass back panel and a distinctive dual-ring turbine light strip on the rear. It measures 162.99 × 77.93 × 8.15mm in dimension and weighs 219 grams. It also features IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance and an Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for security.

Redmi launched the Turbo 5 Max in Shadow Black, Ocean Blue, Cloud White, and Sunshine Orange.

Performance

This device is going to be the first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s SoC and paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 5.1 storage. It will run on Android 16 OS based HyperOS 3 custom skin. The device boosts performance with a T1S signal enhancement chip and keeps cool under heavy use thanks to a 5800mm² 3D ice cooling system.

This powerful processor and updated operating system will ensure smooth gaming and multitasking performance.

Camera System

On the rear panel, the Turbo 5 Max sports a dual camera setup: a 50MP Light Fusion 600 main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. On the photography features, it will have OIS and EIS support along with 4K60fps video recording as well. It will have a 20MP (OmniVision OV20B) selfie camera.

Battery and other features

A massive 9,000mAh battery

This flagship device will feature a massive 9,000mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging and 27W wired reverse charging support. This will be Redmi’s largest battery smartphone, focusing on long-time usage without frequent charging. Xiaomi claims up to 11 hours and 10 minutes of battery life, likely referring to screen-on time.

Other key features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, an infrared sensor, and dual nano-SIM support.
