Vivo Y21 5G battery and charging details confirmed, ahead of launch

Vivo is currently planning to launch the Vivo Y21 5G. Interestingly, Vivo first introduced the Vivo Y21 in 2021, yet the company is reusing the same name despite having many other naming options available. The launch is getting closer, as the Y21 5G bagged multiple certifications, including Indian BIS, Bluetooth SIG, SIRIM, and TUV certifications. Now, it has bagged the EPREL certification, revealing its battery capacity details.

Vivo Y21 5G EPREL Certification listings unveiled battery details

The EPREL certification has listed two model numbers, “V2553” and “V2554,” with certification IDs “2571107” and “2571087,” both carrying an energy efficiency rating of “A.” While the name does not appear in this listing, an earlier Bluetooth SIG certification confirmed the device as the Vivo Y21 5G.

Vivo Y21 5G Battery details

According to the certification details, the “V2553” variant packs a larger 6,355mAh battery, whereas the “V2554” model features a 5,090mAh battery. The “V2553” version has also surfaced on BIS and SIRIM databases. Vivo will likely market these as typical 6,500mAh and 5,250mAh batteries, respectively. So the Indian and Malaysian variants will ship with the bigger battery.

Both models support 44W wired fast charging, which aligns with earlier TUV certification information. In terms of battery endurance, the “V2554” model is rated for 52 hours and 36 minutes, while the “V2553” delivers up to 67 hours and 13 minutes. Additionally, both variants support 1,600 full charge cycles and feature a USB Type-C port. Moreover, EPREL labels reveal durability and software details. The Vivo Y21 5G earns an “A” rating for drop resistance and a “C” rating for repairability. It will also feature IP65 dust and splash resistance and receive Android security updates for up to five years.
