The vivo X500 series is now official in China, bringing three models to the lineup: the standard X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. The Pro models sit at the top of the range and are the first smartphones to feature MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, while the standard X500 uses the Dimensity 9600M.
The cameras and processor are one of the biggest highlights of the new series, particularly on the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max.

Display
Both the vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max feature LTPO AMOLED displays with 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The Pro has a smaller 6.36-inch panel, while the Pro Max comes with a larger 6.85-inch screen. Both use BOE Q11 panels and offer up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness.
The standard X500 sits between the two with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display featuring 2K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness.
Performance
For performance, the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max are powered by MediaTek’s new 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset. The standard X500 uses the Dimensity 9600M, which is essentially a rebadged version of last year’s Dimensity 9500. On the software side, the phones run OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.
Camera and video
The vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max share a custom 50MP primary camera with a 24mm equivalent focal length. It uses Sony’s LYTIA L910 sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size and was developed in collaboration with vivo. The camera also gets Zeiss T* coating, a fixed f/1.57 aperture and up to 17 stops of dynamic range.
The X500 Pro Max takes stabilization a step further with 3-degree “gimbal-grade” OIS, while the X500 Pro supports 1.5-degree OIS.
The Pro Max also gets an 85mm equivalent 200MP periscope telephoto camera. It uses Samsung’s ISOCELL HP0 sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size and supports CIPA 7.0 professional-grade stabilization.
The X500 Pro instead features an 85mm equivalent 64MP telephoto camera using a custom vivo and Sony LYTIA 610 sensor. Both Pro models also support the optional 400mm Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra. They share the same 15mm equivalent 50MP ultrawide camera based on Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5 sensor.
The standard X500 gets a 23mm equivalent 50MP main camera with the LYTIA 828 sensor, which measures 1/1.28-inch. It is paired with a 72mm equivalent 64MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide.
The X500 Pro and Pro Max also focus heavily on video recording. Both phones can record 4K video at 240fps for cinematic slow-motion footage, while the Pro Max additionally supports 8K recording at 30fps. The two Pro models can also capture 10-bit 4:2:2 video and support the ACES color management system.
Battery and other features
The X500 Pro Max packs the largest battery in the series at 8,000mAh, followed by the 7,500mAh battery in the standard X500 and a 6,510mAh cell in the X500 Pro. All three models support 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. The entire lineup also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Vivo X500 Series Price and availability
The vivo X500 is available in white, gray and black colors. Its price starts at CNY 5,499 (around $821) for the 12GB/256GB version.
The X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max come in white, gray, black, and orange. The X500 Pro starts at CNY 6,499 (around $970), while the X500 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999 (around $1,045).

Pre-orders for the vivo X500 series are now open in China. The standard X500 and X500 Pro Max will go on sale on September 24, while the X500 Pro will be available from September 29.
