At the India Mobile Congress 2020, MediaTek announced the launch of the Dimensity 800U 5G chipset in India. The chip originally announced in August and powers quite a few phones globally already, including the Realme X7 5G. The 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset joins the Dimensity 1000+ that was introduced in the country a little while back.

The Dimensity 800U supports 5G + 5G dual SIM standby technology, sub-6GHz SA, and NSA networks. Also, there will dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR) and 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA). The octa-core chipset comes with dual clusters comprising of two ARM Cortex-A76 processor clocked at 2.4GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 processors with a clock speed of 2GHz. The chipset has a couple of Mali-G57 GPU and has support for LPDDR4 RAM, UFS 2.2 storage. Also, it has an independent AI processing unit
The MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC supports an FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. There also have HDR10 and MediaTek MiraVision PQ engines with HDR optimization. The chipset supports 64MP cameras and quad-cameras. It has an integrated APU and ISP to offer AI camera enhancements. The chipset supports voice on wakeup (VoW) and dual-mic noise reduction technology. They claimed to lower the standby power consumption of the voice assistant and allows it to hear clear sound despite the external noise interruption.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800U also comes with UltraSave technology. Where the modem’s operating mode is managed based on the network environment and data transmission quality. This is said to extend the battery life of mobile devices. Authority says, comparing to the Dimensity 720 chipset then it will perform 11 percent faster on CPU performance. Also, It will have 28 percent faster GPU performance.
The Realme X7 and X7 Pro will be the first devices in India to be powered by the Dimensity 800U and 1000+ SoCs, respectively. The Realme X7 launched in China and packs a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, 64MP quad cameras, and 65W fast charging, among other things.
