Sharp Aquos R7 gets SD 8 Gen 1 and improved 1” sensor, Aquos Wish2 tags along. Sharp has announced its 2022 flagship device, the Aquos 7, which is a direct successor to last year’s more affordable model, the Aquos R6.
The new model comes with 1-inch camera sensor developed by Leica and an advanced chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and a slightly altered design. Sharp also announced its secondary midrange smartphone, the Aquos Wish 2 which has a top-tier Snapdragon 695 processor and Android 12 pre-installed.

Both models are exclusive to Japan. The Aquos 7 will have a 6.6-inch LCD screen with 240Hz refresh rate, QHD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass Verus protection on both sides. It will also come with one of Sharp’s most impressive specs: 2,000 nits peak brightness and 10-bit color support for Photoshop gradients as well as Dolby Vision support for HDR content.
The front and back of the phone are both protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 4C (and finally here – no mention of glass 5 or X for this article). The biggest differentiator among the two models would be the new 47MP main camera where the previous 23MP was replaced by a massive 1” sized sensor that allows up to 1.8 times
