Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 5G global bring big 120 Hz AMOLED displays and 7,700mAh batteries

Xiaomi has expanded the global Redmi Note 17 lineup with distinct specifications and features from the Note 17 series launched in China a few days ago. This series includes Redmi Note 17 5G, Note 17 4G, Note 17 Pro, and Note 17 Pro Max. We have already discussed the Pro duos in a separate post. Now, let’s have a look at the vanilla Note 17 duo.

The Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 5G share most of their specs, with the main differences being their chipsets and network support.

Both the Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 5G feature a 6.99″ 120Hz AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and are protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner for security unlock.

The Redmi Note 17 features Qualcomm’s 6nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 chipset with 4G support. Its CPU reaches up to 2.9 GHz and pairs with 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 5G comes with the newer 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor. It has a 2.3GHz CPU and pairs with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. As the name suggests, it also supports 5G connectivity.

Both models pack a 7,700mAh silicon-carbon battery with 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. That is a significant increase over the previous generation, which used 6,000mAh or 5,520mAh batteries.

However, the larger battery and display also make the new phones considerably heavier. The Redmi Note 17 weighs 224g, while the 5G model comes in at 225g. That makes both phones around 40-50g heavier than their predecessors.

The remaining feature is identical. Both phones feature a 50MP f/1.8 rear camera and a 16MP selfie camera. They also carry an IP65 rating and run HyperOS 3. Xiaomi has promised six years of security updates for both models. MicroSD storage expansion is also supported.

Redmi Note 17 price and storage options

The Redmi Note 17 comes in Celestial Purple, Sky Teal, and Black. Its five storage configurations are 4GB/128GB, 4GB/256GB, 6GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB, and 8GB/256GB. The phone starts at $250 globally.

Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 5G starts at $300. It comes in 6GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB, and 8GB/256GB configurations, using the same three color options. Both models are now part of Xiaomi’s global Redmi Note 17 lineup.
