Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra launches with 185Hz AMOLED, 200MP camera, and flagship processors
Poco has introduced its brand-new flagship duo: Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra, to the global market. This duo is almost identical in design and shares most of the specifications. However, the Ultra variant surpasses the Pro in key areas.
Design and Display
The Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra both feature 185Hz AMOLED displays with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The difference here is the size and resolution: 6.6 inches (2510 x 1156 resolution) for the Pro, while the Ultra one measures 6.9 inches (2608 x 1200 resolution).
Both F9 series phones carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The F9 Pro measures 157.5 x 75.3 x 8.8 mm and weighs 206 g. While, the F9 Ultra measures 163.5 x 77.9 x 8.7 mm in dimensions and weighs 235g.
Processor and Performance
Under the hood, the F9 Ultra features the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Meanwhile, the F9 Pro uses the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB).
According to Qualcomm’s documents, the V Series chip comes with a slightly cut-down GPU. It still uses the Adreno 840, but it has one fewer GPU slice than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Both the F9 series device uses a 3D IceLoop cooling system to manage heat during longer gaming sessions.
The F9 Ultra offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Meanwhile, the F9 Pro tops out at 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. They run Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and come with four promised software updates.
Camera and Battery
Moving to the cameras, both phones use the same 200MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor. However, the F9 Ultra gets a more capable 50MP periscope telephoto camera with the ISOCELL JN5 sensor. It also has a 50MP ultrawide camera using the OV50M sensor. In comparison, the F9 Pro comes with a 2.5x telephoto camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Both of them use a 32MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
The F9 Ultra packs a larger 8,050mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the F9 Pro has a 6,330mAh cell. Both phones support 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.
Other features and connectivity
This duo features symmetrical stereo speakers tuned by Bose, offering Dynamic and Balanced sound profiles, with additional volume tuning intended to keep audio clear at different volume levels. Among other features, the F9 series includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Price and Availability
The F9 Pro comes in White and Aurora Green. The Aurora Green version features a rear panel that glows after exposure to sunlight or indoor light. Meanwhile, the Poco F9 Ultra comes in Black and Dark Cherry.
The Poco F9 Pro starts at $699 for the 12GB/256GB version, while its European price starts at €899.99. Poco’s Early Bird offer drops the price to $649 and €739.99, respectively. The 12GB/512GB model costs $769 or €999.99, with Early Bird pricing reducing it to $699 or €799.99.
The Poco F9 Ultra starts at $799 for the 12GB/256GB model, while the European price is €1,099.99. With the Early Bird offer, the price falls to $729 and €829.99. The 16GB/512GB version costs $949 or €1,199.99, while Early Bird pricing brings it down to $799 or €899.99. Finally, the 16GB/1TB model costs $1,199 or €1,399.99, with Early Bird pricing set at $1,059 or €1,199.99.
