Oppo Reno 16 Pro Max display, camera, and chipset leak hints at flagship specs

Oppo launched the Oppo Reno15 series in China last November. Now, it’s time for the successor, the Reno 16 series, to arrive. Already, leaks and rumors appeared with some key specs of this series’s smartphones.

A recent leak suggests that Oppo may expand its upcoming lineup with a new Pro Max variant. According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the rumored device is described as a “super-sized” smartphone and is expected to feature a large 6.78-inch display, indicating a focus on a bigger screen experience and flagship positioning.

Oppo Reno 16 Pro Max leaked specifications

According to the leaks, this display will be an LTPO panel built on uniform bezels on all edges, offering 1.5K resolution.

The leak also highlights the chipset as an interesting detail. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the phone will run a flagship “N-1” Dimensity processor. While the exact chip remains unconfirmed, Oppo may choose a previous-generation flagship option like the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 from MediaTek.

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro Max may feature a 200MP main camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. Reports also suggest that the Oppo Reno 16 Pro could adopt a similar camera setup. However, the Pro variant will likely run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset from MediaTek.

So far, the Oppo Reno series has mainly used sub-premium processors. However, if the latest leak proves accurate, Oppo could move the lineup closer to the sub-flagship segment with a more powerful chipset. The Oppo Reno 16 Pro Max could replace the current Pro model as the top-tier device in the Oppo Reno series lineup. This shift may bring upgraded hardware across the board, positioning the phone closer to flagship territory. However, the tipster also suggests that these improvements could result in a higher price tag for the device.

None of these details is official yet, and Oppo has not confirmed the leak. However, reports suggest the devices are already in testing, and sources hint at a mid-year launch window. If that timeline holds, the upcoming Oppo Reno 16 series may not remain a mystery for much longer.
