OnePlus is reportedly preparing its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16. While the device is still months away from launch, a new leak has revealed some major details. The report not only hints at a significant camera upgrade but also suggests that OnePlus could soon say goodbye to OxygenOS.
OnePlus 16 rumored camera and software details
According to the latest leak, the OnePlus 16 may feature a new 200MP primary camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor. If true, it would mark a major jump from the 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor used on the previous generation. The phone is also expected to include a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens. However, the camera setup is reportedly still under testing, so the final hardware could change before launch.
The leak also claims that OnePlus may discontinue OxygenOS in the future. Instead, upcoming OnePlus smartphones could ship with OPPO’s ColorOS. This report follows OPPO’s recent restructuring, where OnePlus services in India were merged under OPPO.
Despite the reported software transition, the OnePlus brand itself is expected to continue. However, the global launch strategy for the OnePlus 16 remains unclear as the company continues its internal restructuring.
As of now, OnePlus has not officially confirmed any of these details. Users should treat the information as an early leak until the company shares more about its next flagship.
