Nokia launches C12 with Android 12 Go Edition, and 6.3″ display

Nokia launches C12 with Android 12 Go Edition, and 6.3″ display. The Nokia C12, a low-priced Android 12 Go Edition smartphone, is HMD Global’s first release of 2023. The model number indicates that this is a follow-up to the early 2021 Nokia C10. However, in size, it is somewhat less typical of the C-series. The 6.3″ LCD screen has HD+ resolution, which is responsible for this.

The C12 has dimensions of 160.6 x 74.3 x 8.75 mm and a weight of 177.4 g. The C10’s 6.52″ display and 169.9 x 77.9 x 8.8mm dimensions put it in the same ballpark as the C20’s 191g weight. The Nokia C31 is a more up-to-date model, but its 6.75″ screen makes it even more cumbersome. The Unisoc SC9863A1 is the chipset driving the Nokia C12, and it was developed on the backwards-looking 28nm manufacturing node.

It powered by eight Cortex-A55 cores (4x 1.6GHz + 4x 1.2GHz) with a PowerVR IMG 8322 GPU. The default amount of RAM on the phone is 2GB, but you may activate a further 2GB as virtual RAM if you choose. While other machines come with as much as 4GB of RAM, the C12 can function with only 1GB of RAM and other machines with the Go Edition.

It has 64GB of built-in storage (eMMC 5.1). However, it doesn’t support microSD expansion. The primary camera is an 8-megapixel sensor with autofocus and an LED flash, while the front-facing camera is a more modest 5 megapixels (in a notch). They equipped with Night and Portrait settings. The Nokia C12 supports 4G speeds, and its wireless features include Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.2.

Additionally, the 3.5mm connector allows for use with wired headphones. That’s well and wonderful, but including a micro USB port for data and power concerns us. The phone’s battery has a capacity of 3,000 mAh (promising “all-day battery life”) and charges at a somewhat slow 5W. Although it’s low cost, the C12’s construction ensures it will only break down for a while.

The face of the phone made of toughened glass, and the rest of the body made of polycarbonate, both of which make it resistant to damage in the event of a drop. Not to mention, it has an IP52 rating (protected against dust and dripping water). HMD has promised quarterly security upgrades for two years (no word on OS updates, but that is typical of Go Edition models).
