MediaTek Dimensity 2000 (5nm) could arrive in Q1, 2022

A well-performed smartphone is dependable on its Chipset. There are many Chipset makers in the world of Technology. If you are talking about them then there will be Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Exynos in the first row. These Chipset makers are working hard to make fast chipset. MediaTek is growing rapidly in the smartphone chipset market. Certainly, one of the reasons behind that is the company newly introducing Dimensity series. MediaTek Already announced its 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC which is coming on 20 January. Now, it is releasing the Dimensity 1100 SoC. These two are made of 6nm technology. But MediaTek will release the 5nm chipset in Q1,2022

Today, a roadmap of MediaTek’s chipset revealed through a reliable leakster Digital chat station. According to the roadmap, the 6nm chips will be used by Oppo and Vivo first (though Redmi execs have been dropping hints as well). They also listed a 5nm node chipset on this roadmap which will become in Q1, 2022. The name of the Chipset will be Dimensity 2000. Also, this chipset will be used for Oppo & Vivo first.

MedaTek Dimensity 2000 (5nm)

The Dimensity 2000 may become the first chipset in the family to adopt the high-performance Cortex-X core. The X2, specifically, plus big Cortex-A79 CPU cores and Mali-G79 GPU cores. All three are yet to be announced by ARM (note: the Dimensity 1200 CPU is reportedly based on the Cortex-A78 core). The A79 is presumably the Matterhorn core, which is scheduled to be unveiled this year. Expect a small performance bump over the A78. But a massive 2.5x increase over an old core like the A73. The Matterhorn will also have hardware to detect memory safety violations and that’s all we know about it so far.

The next architecture after that is Makalu, which should be 30% faster than the A78. It’s not clear if this will be the X2 core – probably not as it’s not expected to be mass-produced until 2023. The one interesting thing we know about Makalu is that it will drop 32-bit support and will run 64-bit software exclusively.

To, know more let’s wait till the launch of Dimensity 1100 & 1200. May we, hear something about the next plan of MediaTek alongside the launch.
