iQOO 16 launches with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme, triple 50MP cameras and a 2K AMOLED display
Vivo iQOO has finally joined the flagship race with its most anticipated iQOO 16 launch in China. The iQOO 16 arrives with a major design upgrade over the iQOO 15 and comes with a Samsung M16 AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme, iQOO’s self-developed Q4 gaming chip, an 8,400mAh battery, and an 8,500mm² VC cooling system. The flagship has arrived with high-performance gaming and sustained performance-centric specs.
iQOO 16 Specifications
The iQOO 16 features a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 165Hz LTPO AMOLED display with a 3168 x 1440 resolution and 5000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. It offers 2800 nits full-screen excitation brightness and 10,000 nits peak local brightness along with full-brightness DC dimming and up to 3300Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. For durability, the phone comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, it runs on the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor with up to 5.01GHz CPU speeds and paired with he Q4 gaming chip. For memory, it has got LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. To improve the performance further, iQOO has designed a Monster Super Core Engine and an 8,500mm² VC cooling system. It runs on OriginOS 7-based Android 17.
For photography, the iQOO 16 features a triple 50MP camera setup on the rear panel. The setup includes a 50MP OmniVision OV50Q main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 periscope telephoto camera with OIS. On the front, it comes with a 32MP selfie shooter. The rear panel supports 8K video recording also.
A massive 8,400mAh battery built on fifth-generation silicon-anode technology powers this device. The battery supports 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. It also features iQOO’s proprietary Q-flex control technology, which optimizes six stages of the touch-control pipeline and works with the touch chip and gyroscope at the game-engine level to reduce gaming latency.
Among other features, the flagship iQOO 16 includes 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, Wi-Fi 7, USB 3.2 Gen 1, NFC, an infrared blaster, X+Z dual-axis linear motor, and stereo speakers.
iQOO 16 price and availability
The iQOO 16 comes in three colors: Chasing Light, Legend, and Track. For storage configurations you can purchase it in 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB models.
iQOO 16 base model (12GB/512GB) costs 6,799 Yuan (~$1,020). While the 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB models is available at 7,499 Yuan (~$1,125), 8,499 Yuan (~$1,275) respectively.
It is uncertain when the iQOO 16 will arrive in Global market. However, a global variant of this flagship has already been spotted at Europe’s EEC certification in the recent past. We need to wait a little bit for the official confirmation from Vivo.
