After months of rumors and leaks, Apple has finally confirmed the date for its next major iPhone event. The company will host its iPhone-focused event on September 9, where it is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro series and its first foldable iPhone.
Apple has confirmed that the event will take place on September 9 at 10am PT. The company will host the event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, while also livestreaming the keynote. Apple could also introduce new Apple Watch models during the event.
The event poster carries the tagline “Surprise and Shine” and features a glowing Apple logo with what appears to be sunlight shining through it.
iPhone 18 Pro lineup could bring several upgrades
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at the event. The two models are rumored to keep much of the iPhone 17 Pro‘s design, but several hardware changes could set them apart.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is reportedly getting a variable-aperture main camera. This would give users more control over the amount of light entering the lens. The Pro models are also expected to use Apple’s new A20 Pro chipset. Earlier reports suggest the chip could be around 18% faster than the previous generation. Apple may also reduce the size of the Dynamic Island and introduce a new modem.
The lineup could arrive in Dark Cherry and Sky Blue color options.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone could steal the show
The biggest announcement of the event could be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, currently rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra.
The foldable is tipped to feature a 5.5-inch cover screen and a much larger 7.67-inch inner display. The main screen could use a 4:3 aspect ratio, giving it a layout closer to a small tablet. Apple is also rumored to bring Touch ID to the foldable iPhone. The device could run an iPad-like interface when unfolded, taking advantage of its larger display.
