Most global smartphone makers still use relatively modest battery capacities. Brands like Apple, Google, and Samsung rarely push capacity beyond the 6,000mAh range. In contrast, Chinese manufacturers are rapidly advancing battery design through silicon-carbon technology, allowing much larger capacities without making devices excessively bulky.
Honor has become one of the key players in this space and even received recognition for its battery innovation during Mobile World Congress 2026 earlier this month.
Honor X80 GT massive battery leaks
Now, a new rumor from China suggests the upcoming Honor X80 GT could push things even further with an enormous 13,080mAh battery. Earlier leaks had hinted that the standard Honor X80 might feature a 10,000mAh battery,a notable jump from the 8,300mAh battery used in the Honor X70.
When it comes to huge batteries in mid-range phones, Honor now seems to compete mainly with itself. Devices like the Honor Win offer a 10,000mAh battery, while the Honor Power 2 pushes it slightly higher to 10,080mAh. If the latest rumor is accurate, the Honor X80 GT could easily surpass both.
Unfortunately, the leak does not reveal any other specifications of the device yet. However, the previous generation Honor X70 launched last July with a 6.79-inch AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, 8GB or 12GB RAM, and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage options. The phone also featured a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP selfie camera. The upcoming Honor X80 GT will likely improve several of these specifications, though it remains unclear how far the upgrades will go until more leaks or official details appear.
