Apple again rumored to forego actual buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

Apple again rumored to forego actual buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, said in October 2018 that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will not have any physical buttons for clicking and navigation.

Apple again rumored to forego actual buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

And here we are again, with Kuo repeating himself and rehashing the same old data. His most recent poll of Apple’s vendors indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will still debut in the second half of this year sans physical button controls. Instead of physical buttons, both phones will use solid-state buttons that, with the help of extra Taptic Engines, will provide a more realistic experience.

Since Cirrus Logic is the only provider of the controller IC used by the Taptic Engine to drive the solid-state buttons, it stands to gain significantly from Apple’s decision. According to Kuo, if consumers receive Apple’s dummy buttons favorably, other brands would likely be “motivated” to follow suit.
