iQOO 16 tipped with Industry’s best 2K 165Hz OLED display and 8,400mAh battery
iQOO 16 is in the midst of leaks and rumors, and the tipster Digital Chat Station is regularly sharing new details about the phone. In a previous Weibo leak, we learned that the iQOO 16 will arrive with a UFO-shaped futuristic camera module on the back. Now, the leaker revealed the display and battery details recently.
According to DCS, the iQOO 16 will be the first Android smartphone to use Samsung Display’s latest-generation M16 emissive material. It is also expected to use a new LEAD display technology.
LEAD reportedly replaces the traditional polarising layer used in OLED panels with a nano-lithography filter structure. This could increase light transmission by 40% while reducing power consumption by 44%. The technology is also claimed to extend the panel’s lifespan by up to 50%.
Besides efficiency, the new display technology could improve viewing angles and colour accuracy. The display technology is not the only feature that could make the iQOO 16 stand out. The phone is also expected to focus heavily on gaming performance.
iQOO’s self-developed Q4 chip could bring virtual point light sources and HDR support to mobile games. This setup is designed to deliver more advanced real-time lighting effects. The chip could also generate game screenshots at up to 8K resolution. Users may be able to adjust different visual settings when using the feature. WHYLAB claims that several popular games are expected to support these new capabilities.
Previous leaks claimed that the iQOO 16 would feature an 8,500mAh battery. However, the latest leak confirms that the device will sport an 8,400mAh battery. According to rumors, the device may support 100W wired and 40W wireless charging, similar to the previous generation.
iQOO 16 expected specifications
Previous leaks revealed that the iQOO 16 will feature a 6.85-inch Samsung LTPO OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution. The panel will reportedly use a flat design, making it suitable for users who prefer a traditional screen. The display is also expected to reach up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness and support Dolby Vision.
Under the hood, the phone is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The leak also suggests that the device will run OriginOS 7 with a new Light and Shadow aesthetic. A built-in cooling fan is also reportedly being tested to help manage temperatures during demanding gaming sessions.
For photography, the iQOO 16 could feature a triple-camera setup. The main camera is tipped to use a 50MP sensor with an approximately 1/1.3-inch size. The leak notes that it will not use LOFIC technology.
The main camera will reportedly be joined by a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. The latter could use an approximately 1/1.95-inch sensor and offer around 3x optical zoom. Previous leak also hinted at the 3x periscope telephoto lens.
Among other features, it may include IP68 and IP69 protection, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a USB 3.2 port. According to DCS, it would come with symmetrical dual speakers and an X-axis linear motor, and an RGB light strip could add another gaming-focused element to the design.
