iQOO 16 tipped to feature a futuristic square camera module
The iQOO 16 could arrive later this month, although iQOO has yet to confirm its launch date. Meanwhile, a new leak has revealed details about the phone’s rear design.
Tipster Digital Chat Station claims the iQOO 16 will feature a redesigned square-shaped camera module with large rounded corners. The three rear cameras will sit in a connected layout, giving the module a more distinctive look. The design reportedly has small details around the camera frame and underlying texture, adding a more precise and mechanical feel. It also gives the phone a slightly futuristic, UFO-like appearance.
The rear panel is also expected to use a newly developed manufacturing process. According to the leak, iQOO is going for a futuristic sci-fi design with a unique texture on the back. This could make the iQOO 16 one of the more recognizable phones in the upcoming flagship lineup.
iQOO 16 expected specifications
The iQOO 16 is tipped to feature a 6.85-inch Samsung 2K Everest straight display. The panel could use LEAD OLED technology and support a 165Hz refresh rate. The display is also expected to reach up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness and support Dolby Vision.
Under the hood, the phone is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The leak also suggests that the device will run OriginOS 7 with a new Light and Shadow aesthetic. A built-in cooling fan is also reportedly being tested to help manage temperatures during demanding gaming sessions.
For photography, the main camera is tipped to use a 50MP sensor with an approximately 1/1.3-inch size. The leak notes that it will not use LOFIC technology.
A 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera will reportedly join the main camera. The latter could use an approximately 1/1.95-inch sensor and offer around 3x optical zoom. A previous leak also hinted at the 3x periscope telephoto lens.
The phone may also feature a massive 8,500mAh battery. A previous leak hinted that the phone may support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Among other features, it may include IP68 and IP69 protection, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a USB 3.2 port. According to DCS, it would come with symmetrical dual speakers and an X-axis linear motor, and an RGB light strip could add another gaming-focused element to the design.
