Honor confirms Robot Phone camera specs ahead of launch, partners with ARRI for pro-grade imaging
Honor has officially revealed the complete camera specifications of its upcoming Robot Phone ahead of its August 12 launch. During an imaging event in Zhejiang, China, the company also announced a partnership with German cinema camera brand ARRI to bring professional filmmaking features to a smartphone.
The Honor Robot Phone features a 200MP main camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, and a dedicated in-house imaging chip, making it one of Honor’s most ambitious camera phones yet.
200MP triple camera setup with Yuguang H1 imaging chip
The Honor Robot Phone packs a triple rear camera system led by a 200MP primary sensor with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and an f/1.6 aperture. Honor mounts the camera on its signature three-axis robotic gimbal for improved stabilization. The setup also includes a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera for long-range photography.
Honor has developed a new in-house imaging chip called the Yuguang H1 to power the camera system. The company also introduced a new 2.6g gimbal motor, which it claims is 65% smaller and delivers 35% higher torque density than conventional smartphone gimbal motors.
Additionally, Honor says the Robot Phone incorporates more than 100 patents related to its robotic camera technologies.
Honor partners with ARRI for professional camera features
On the software side, the Robot Phone processes images directly on the device. It performs real-time white balance, exposure adjustment, tone mapping, glare reduction, and detail enhancement across all cameras.
Honor also integrates its new AIMAGE 2.0 stabilization engine to improve video stability during handheld shooting. Meanwhile, the partnership with ARRI introduces Log-C video recording and professional LUT color profiles. Users can also manually lock focus, white balance, and exposure while recording, giving creators greater control over their videos.
Honor plans to bring new imaging technology to Magic 9 series
Honor says it will bring these imaging technologies to future smartphones, including the upcoming Magic 9 series. The company also plans to establish a joint imaging laboratory with ARRI to develop next-generation smartphone camera technologies.
